Are you planning to come visit Canada? Depending on the foreign national’s citizenship, a Temporary Resident Visa, or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), is required for temporary residents seeking to come to Canada temporarily.

1. Visitor Visa
If you come from visa required countries for visiting Canada, a visitor visa (also called a temporary resident visa) shows that you meet the requirements needed to enter Canada. It will be stick onto your passport. Most visitors can stay for up to 6 months in Canada.
2. eTA
An electronic travel authorization (eTA) is required for most visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to or transiting through Canada by air. The eTA is valid for a total of 5 years from the date of approval. It is a multiple entry Electronic Travel Authorization and allows for multiple short stays in Canada during its validity. A maximum stay of 6 months is permitted with each entry with the eTA for Canada.
3. Visitor Record
A visitor record is a document that a border services officer may issue to you to extend or restrict your stay in Canada. If you want to stay in Canada for more than 6 months, you have to tell the border services officer. You may also get a visitor record after immigration officer approve your application to extend your stay or restore your status.
