Immigration Through Family Sponsorship
Family Reunification under the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act allows permanent residents and Canadian citizens to sponsor their immediate family members (such as their spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children) and their parents and grandparents to immigration to Canada. In addition, in certain specific circumstances, other relatives could also be sponsored to immigrated to Canada.
Who You Can Sponsor to Immigrate to Canada?
1. Spouse, Common Law and Conjugal Partner
Applicant could apply from in Canada or from outside of Canada. There are differences in program requirement and advantages from these two different manners. Please contact us to check your situation.
2. Parents and Grand-Parents
One of the greatest attraction for immigrating to Canada is that Canada encourage the family reunification, and permanent residents and citizens could apply for their parents immigration status as long as certain conditions are reached. The undertaking is 20 years; proof of income from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for the past 3 consecutive taxation years based on the Low Income Cut-offs (LICO plus 30%).The Minimum Necessary Income applies to residents of all provinces except Quebec. 3. Child and Adopted Child
An adoption, for the purposes of the IRPR, means an adoption that creates a legal parent-child relationship and severs the pre-existing legal parent-child relationship. This type of child placement is referred to as a “full adoption”.
4. Other Family Members
You can sponsor an orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild only if they meet all of these conditions:
- they’re related to you by blood or adoption
- both their mother and father passed away
- they’re under 18 years of age
- they’re single (not married or in a common-law or conjugal relationship)
5. Lonely Canadian
You may sponsor one relative, related by blood or adoption, of any age, if you (the person who wants to sponsor your relative) don’t have a living relative you could sponsor.
