Federal Self Employed Immigration
Federal self-employed immigration program targets outstanding talents in sports and culture. This project is not only aimed at actors and front-stage workers, but also throws an olive branch to behind-the-scenes workers. If you are engaged in graphic design, film and television production, editorial management, etc., then you may also apply for immigration through this program.
Application Requirements
1. Cultural or Athletic Experiences
At least two years of experience five years prior to the date of applying for permanent residence include the following:
In terms of cultural activities:
- Self-employed in cultural activities for two years, or
- Two years of experience in participating in world-class cultural activities, or
- A combination of the above two,
In terms of athletic activities:
- Two years of competitive self-employment experience; or
- Two-year experience of participating in sports activities at a world-class level; or
- A combination of the above two
2. Have the Willing and Ability to be Self-Employed in Canada
Willing and able to be self-employed in Canada, be economically self-sufficient and be able to promote the development of Canadian cultural and athletic industry.
3. Meet the Minimum Score Requirements
Meet the minimum requirements for scoring based on industry experience, education, age, language, and adaptability.
4. Starting Up Capital
There is no mandatory requirement for start-up capital, but we recommend preparing capital for the initial start-up of self-employment.

Eligible Occupations include: librarian; custodian and curator; archivist; author and writer; editor; journalist; public relations and communication person; translator, terminology expert and interpreter; producer, director, Choreographers and related occupations; conductors, composers and arrangers; musicians and singers; dancers; actors and comedians; painters, sculptors and other visual artists; technicians and assistants in libraries and archives; and museums and art galleries Related technical occupations; photographers; camera and camera operators; graphic arts technicians; broadcasting technicians; audio and video recording technicians; other technical and coordination occupations in film, broadcasting and performing arts; in film, broadcasting and performing arts Professional support staff in China; announcers and other broadcasters; other performers; graphic designers and illustrators; interior designers; theater, fashion, exhibition and other creative designers; famous craftsmen; plate makers – textile, leather and fur Products; athletes; coaches; sports officials and referees; entertainment, sports and fitness program leaders and lecturers
Stage 2: Prepare Materials and Submit Application
Fully demonstrate your industry experience and the capability of achieving economic independence in the Canadian economy, contact and communicate with local Canadian industries to achieve self-employment.
